What Are Specialty Contact Lenses?

Scleral Lenses
Contact lenses for keratoconus and dry eye are typically known as scleral lenses. Scleral lenses are large-diameter lenses that cover a significant portion of the sclera, or the white part of the eye.
The size of these lenses allows them to “vault” over the cornea, offering comfort and clarity for those struggling with corneal conditions and dry eye.
Amniotic Membrane for Dry Eye
Amniotic membranes are a biological approach for treating moderate to severe dry eyes.
Amniotic membranes are made of placental and stem cell materials. These can then be placed on the eye for a certain period, which helps to repair damaged ocular surfaces and provide relief from dry eye symptoms.
Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses
RGP lenses are made from a firm plastic material that’s designed to allow oxygen to pass through to the eye.

Toric Lenses for Astigmatism

Wow! What an amazing office. I have been looking for an eye doctor in Columbus since I moved. Dr. King-Smith is so friendly and inviting! Eye exam was all typical, however what really made them stand apart was the staffs genuine desire to connect with me.
